Keen gear. Is there a way we can go about adding more titles to it? There were a few at that other site that I wouldn't mind having here as well.
*Notes THX's Champion status* Well.. I suppose I can take a short break from what I was doing..

*Sigh* I'm never going to get anything done around here now...
You gotta have Pac-Man, for one.

Ditto on Pac-Man, i'd also throw in Breakout, Defender, Frogger, Joust, and Q*Bert.

Not to be the asshole (though it isn't like it'd be out of character at this point), but wasn't the site supposed to have launched today? I would think that those things that need to be done before we can take this site public should be done before we start holding staff Q*Bert competitions.
If there's anything that I can do to get the site live more quickly, just point me at it.
I don't hate the arcade or anything, but after several weeks of today being the targeted release date, logging in to the forums looking for news about a launch and seeing a 'we have Tetris!' link didn't exactly excite me.
Peace,
-CxE

Well, we already have a thread about it, for one. But, firstly, the 1st was never a drop dead finalized date, merely the hopeful date. Because we don't have to make sure we're not launching during the middle of a BWE this week now we feel comfortable launching later because we'd rather launch when we're ready than launch because today's the day we said we'd launch.
That said, what we really need right now is the "content" stuff. We need little blurbs for all the categories, overviews for the professions, builds, and articles and everythign else non-databasey the way we have for a while now. We have the framework it's just things need to get filled in still.
Oh, and Galaga. We need Galaga. Any 80s arcade games are just crucial to our success.

If there's other titles you want to see, by all means, suggest them. We will (hopefully) be dealing with a fairly large user base, so I want to make sure that there's something for most people, though I don't want to go overboard with adding them like some forums do - it sort of waters down the competition some. And I think that's the biggest draw to having it here, aiming for the best score, or reclaiming your title from a usurper .. it has already proven itself to work well at that thus far, so I hope it'll be a means to an end to keep people around here when we launch (soon), too.

Just played "Space Invaders".
Some comments:
First off, there was too much grind. It was like I was killing the same monsters over and over again. If I wanted grind, I'd play Everquest.
Also, the graphics are uninspired. Everything appeared very flat and pixellated; almost "cartoony." If I wanted cartoony graphics, I'd play WoW.
Now, I have to give the designers credit for their PvE ladder, but there's not much replayability in their PvE environment; as far as I could tell, it was just the same four blocks at the bottom, over and over again. They need more PvE maps, with more varied objectives.
Also, the PvP game is practically nonexistent. The devs are going to have to work at this: no game survives these days without some kind of online PvP option.
It's a good try, but... there's an awful lot of work to be done before it's ready for market.

The sad part about that, is that I don't find it in the least bit implausible that people would say as much and actually mean it.

Best post ever.
But, I think you've overlooked a few factors. Namely, the "space invader" shots were grossly overpowered! I'm talking one-hit kill here. I routinely got blasted to smitherens just from a glancing blow. It's like there's not even any damage location modeling whatsoever. I, for one, as an avid player of that little ship, am calling for a BIG nerf to those shots, and I hope you all join me. They're simply too strong atm and are warping the gameplay experience because of it!

Aladdar, the real underlying issue is diversity. There's virtually no character customization available. I, for one, don't want to play the exact same character as everyone else. It's just boring. In today's environment you simply have to have options.
